Overview

Dr. Peter Zavitsanos is a dedicated radiation oncologist and has been in his practice for nearly 8 years. He has a keen interest in clinical research and has extensive training in 3D-CRT, IMRT/IGRT, HDR Brachytherapy, SBRT, and intracranial SRS (linac-based, CyberKnife, and Gamma Knife).

Dr. Zavitsanos has conducted thorough research in the areas of breast cancer, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), thyroid cancer, and endometrial cancer. He contributed to a review article published in the journal ‘Gland Surgery’ describing the late effects of radiotherapy and the evolution of techniques in breast cancer treatments.

Dr. Zavitsanos analyzed radiotherapy utilization trends in early-stage high-intermediate risk endometrial cancer and published an article in the journal ‘Brachytherapy’ in 2016 as the first author.

Dr. Zavitsanos received his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He then did his residency program at Tufts Medical Center Department of Radiation Oncology, where he also won the Chief Resident Award in Radiation Oncology in 2018-19. He completed multiple research projects throughout his residency. He was also awarded a Medical Guild Merit Award by the University of Florida, College of Medicine.

Dr. Zavitsanos is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the American Brachytherapy Society and is board certified (DABR®). He joined ACTC after a year-long internship at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts.
