Richard Caradonna, MD, has practiced medical oncology and hematology in Hernando County since 1989. He is a graduate of Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts, and received his medical degree from St. Louis Medical College in St. Louis, Missouri. He then completed an internship at St. Louis University Hospital followed by a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in medical oncology at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York.

Dr. Caradonna has held faculty positions at the Albany Medical College and Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine. In addition, he has served as principal investigator for clinical research trials, authored articles in the field of oncology, and has been actively involved in the treatment of cancer patients for over 35 years.

Dr. Caradonna has extensive experience both in the hospital and outpatient management of cancer and blood disorders, and he treats all types of malignant conditions. With his many years of research and the treatment of all types of malignant conditions, he is in a unique position to handle the most difficult cases and devotes much of his clinical practice to the diagnosis and treatment of the most complicated and challenging malignant disorders.

Throughout his career, Dr. Caradonna’s primary concern has been for his patients’ care. He believes that referring physicians are an integral part of providing effective quality patient care. Therefore, keeping referring physicians informed about their patients is his key priority.

Dr. Caradonna is past president of the Hernando County Medical Society. Dr. & Mrs. Caradonna reside in Spring Hill. Their daughter, Stephanie, resides in Sarasota and is a physician specializing in dermatology.
