Prior to his three-year fellowship program at Moffitt Cancer Center, Dr. Kerr completed an internal medicine residency program at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, where he served as Chief Medical Resident for the Department of Internal Medicine. Following his completion, he also served as Assistant Professor of Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville. Dr. Kerr also holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Louisville. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He also holds an undergraduate degree in chemistry from the renowned Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
Dr. Kerr is the author of countless publications, oral presentations and abstracts on a wide range of oncology topics. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
Dr. Kerr’s wife, Traci, holds a Ph.D. and is currently doing basic and translational research in leukemia at the Moffitt Cancer Center. He is a black belt in several martial arts styles including tae kwon do, Ryu kyu kempo, and jiujitsu. He enjoys indoor rock climbing, barbecuing and he loves various musical genres including an appreciation for the old vinyl records.
